Safety when Designing a New Fitted Bathroom
If you are considering a new fitted bathroom there are a few things to bear in mind when thinking about its design that will make the bathroom as safe as possible. Remember to keep electrical sockets at least 3 metres from a bath or shower and keep shaver points a safe distance from these too.
All light fittings that are not enclosed must be out of reach from someone who is bathing/showering, and a ceiling-mounted pull-cord for lights is safer than an everyday light switch. If you are fitting a new piece of bathroom furniture such as a bath and have children or elderly using them then remember that your bath should be fitted with a non-slip mat. A fitted bathroom company could also install grab rails wherever you may need them to further reduce the risk of slipping.
Fitted bathroom furniture such as locked cabinets can be used to store away sharp utensils such as razors and scissors from children. Likewise you may want to use high up shelving or cabinets to keep medicines and harmful liquids such as mouthwash away from little hands.
